Mission
The purpose of this Anti-Depression Foods website is to introduce options for the depression sufferer that can lead to a long-term happiness and well being through improved diet and health. We realize that foods and supplements alone are not always the ideal answer, but an increasing number of studies show that diet is a much greater factor in mental well being than believed in the past. A diet rich in healthy foods coupled with a good exercise regimen will certainly improve anyone’s quality of life.
One side note you will see repeated throughout this site is a reminder not to depend exclusively on this site for advice regarding your depression. If you suffer from depression to a point that it interferes significantly with your quality of life, we urge you to seek one-to-one professional counseling soon. Only an experienced professional can be depended upon to interpret your personal situation accurately enough to guide you in your recovery from a severe depression state.
This site is divided into five distinct sections:
1. Foods – Covering foods reputed as contributing to maintaining a non-depressive state of mind, as well as those foods best avoided.
2. Supplements – Dietary supplements that deliver concentrated nutrients that serve the same purposes as anti-depression foods, but can get you up to speed quicker and cover for dietary inadequacies when maintaining dietary sources are impractical.
3. Depression – Here, we discuss the various types of depression and consider how food may or may not contribute to overcoming them. There are also some warnings here, so don’t overlook this section.
4. Developments – This section covers new revelations regarding therapies for depression, especially in relation to food and diet. Here you will also find other articles on interest that do not fit into one of the above categories.
5. Guide – This section focuses on how one can incorporate anti-depression food information into a usable plan for one’s own use. This is perhaps the most important section on the site. A simple foods list is of little use until you consider your own needs and tastes and work them into a personal plan.
